Airport Rail Link
Airport Rail Link Bangkok, Thailand Complete rail solution project for Thai State Railway
The 28 km line in the Thai capital will connect Suvarnabhumi Airport to Phaya Thai station. The Airport Rail Link (ARL) will offer passengers a high speed
and reliable means of public transport and an extremely attractive and environmentally friendly alternative to the car. For Siemens, this is now already the third turnkey project which is being implemented in Bangkok. As one of the consortium leaders,
Siemens has assumed project management and system integration and is responsible for signaling and control systems, telecommunications, automatic fare collection,
railway E&M systems (platform doors and tunnel equipment), traction power supply, track work, depot and service center equipment, baggage management,
check-in systems and rolling stock. Thus, for example, the four-car Airport Express multiple units and the three-car City Line multiple units have been developed on the basis of Siemens's tried-and-tested Desiro UK platform.
The Airport Express is comfortably furnished with 164 standard seats, six tip-up seats, space for one wheelchair and a universal toilet.
The City Line train features 150 bench seats and space for 595 standing passengers.
