In August 2008, Siemens won the contract to build and supply 500 traction systems. Main supplier is the Chinese locomotive plant CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotives Company Ltd. Siemens supplies the traction system including the locomotive control system and provides installation and commissioning support. The units are the world’s most powerful electric locomotives and are used in freight traffic on various routes.
