for the Kazakhstan Railway KTZ
In April 2009, a contract was signed for the supply of locomotives for Kazakh Railways.
Main supplier for 22 locomotives is the Chinese locomotive plant CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotives Company Ltd.
Siemens supplies the traction system including the locomotive control system and provides installation and commissioning support.
The locomotives are intended for passenger service and are used on the Astana – Almaty route.
The new investments will cope with the increased passenger loading between the old and the new capital of Kazakhstan and enhance the existing outdated locomotive fleet.
