Deutsche Bahn

To date, the new train for German operator Deutsche Bahn has covered over 250,000 kilometers in test and licensing runs.

Siemens is one of the world‘s leading manufacturers of high-speed trains. Velaro is one of the most reliable trains in all the countries in which it is deployed (26 trains in operation in Spain, 240 in China, eight in Russia, with eight more under construction).

Velaro trains have already traveled over 150 million operational kilometers without a significant technical failure. In Spain and Russia, Siemens is also responsible for Velaro maintenance.

Velaro D

Deutsche Bahn ordered 15 high-speed trains from Siemens.
The order is worth about 500 million euros.

The new Velaro D will be manufactured at the Siemens plant in Krefeld-Uerdingen. This picture shows a design study.

In may 2006 the russian railway company RZD ordered eight high-speed trains type Velaro from Siemens

The rains will run on the Moscow Saint Petersburg line with an operating speed of 250 km/h

Within the Innotrans 2008 three cars of the first train will be presented to the public. The delivery of the whole first train is scheduled for the coming November.

The Velaro E is the fastest

The Velaro E is the fastest series-produced train in the world.
In the future the Spanish National Railway Renfe will operate the Siemens Velaro high-speed trainset (named AVE S 103)
at a regular speed of 350 km/h.

The Velaro reached the world record speed of 404 km/h.

Transrapid

Developed and delivered by Siemens: The
Transrapid in Shanghai is a technological superlative and a
forward-looking answer to the transportation problems of this megacity.
The Transrapid takes only 7.5 minutes to travel 30 km (20 mi.) and could
be handed over as a turnkey installation after just three years of
construction time.

ICx

Ecofriendly operation

Despite its high seating capacity, the ICx is relatively lightweight, with a superior weight-to-seat ratio. The ICx’s modularity supports train configurations that require as few components as possible. Carefully selected innovations – like the combined use of lightweight trailing bogies with inside bearings and weight-optimized power bogies, and the further refinement of the aerodynamic design – help reduce weight and energy consumption. The ICx needs up to 30% less energy than its predecessors.

modern rail

An integral approach is essential for ensuring that modern rail systems remain viable into the future. In addition to next-generation technology and comfort, Velaro’s top qualities also include efficiency and environmental compatibility.

Velaro

Velaro E is the fastest series production trainset in the world, having reached a speed of 403 km/h without modifications. Whether it’s used as a high-class solution with outstanding riding comfort for businesspeople or a highly economical transportation system for large numbers of passengers, Velaro has long since moved beyond the concept stage.

Velaro

The Velaro family provide perfect guidance, maximum stability, and outstanding riding comfort. They've been thoroughly tested at speeds exceeding 400 km/h and are therefore suitable for controlled running speeds up to 360 km/h – all of which has been verified on routes in Germany, Belgium, France, Spain, the Netherlands and China. Deployed throughout Europe, Velaro D easily handles low adhesive coefficients and can take gradients as steep as 40 ‰ in its stride.

High-speed

Top-flight performance in high-speed rail traffic provides an eco-friendly, future-ready alternative to aircraft and cars, and is an important key factor in the economic success and quality of life of entire regions. Today, the Velaro has an experience lead of ten years. The revolutionary move (away from concentrating the traction equipment in power cars operating in push-pull mode, towards a distributed traction configuration)
was an advance made by Siemens in the 1990s. As a result, the first train – the ICE 3® – went into service in time for Expo 2000. From there, Siemens’ innovations have continued ever since.
The Velaro platform is based on our experience with creating rail solutions in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain, China, and Russia. The fourth generation of the Velaro, the outgrowth of our latest development work, now returns to its home country – and it’s a real European. The interoperable high-speed Velaro Deutschland, built for the Deutsche Bahn AG (BR 407), will link Europe under four different voltage systems.

Velaro – High-speed platform

High-speed

All-round flexibility: The Venturio family of trains offers the right concept for every operator, from an optional tilting system through different types of traction and equipment packages to a wide range of speeds from 160 to 250 kph. Here, flexibility is always at the forefront, which offers you a multitude of individual possibilities – and enables the satisfaction of your every requirement.

In 1899, Siemens, AEG and other companies joined forces to improve the operation of express trains.

In 1903, a three-phase express railcar from Siemens attained a sensational maximum speed of 210 km/h on the Marienfelde-Zossen test route near Berlin.
